There sure are a lot of must-see places around Singapore, but with a tiny land area, one can only move around so much. Why not take a break from the bustle of city life and explore the clear green waters around the peninsula?

Go for a yacht charter!  Singapore abounds with day cruisers, luxury catamarans, and enormous yachts, to mention a few. Breathe easy with day trips and extended getaways, and come back to the city fog with a clear head. Plus, the city is a stone’s throw away from really exotic spots that you can only get to via a yacht charter.

Singapore is at the tip of the Malay peninsula and at the top of the Indonesian archipelago, so you can cruise in and around unspoiled white sand bars and rocky outcrops that are generously laid out in this part of Asia.

Partying on land has its perks, and partying at sea has even more!  Yachts are becoming the venue of choice for the upwardly mobile in Singapore.  Reward hard work by bringing in your top talents for an award’s night. Or block off a schedule during business downtime to build stronger teams.  Sail away to nearby Coney Island during the day, and bring up PowerPoint at night.

Family milestones are made more memorable aboard a watercraft, so why not book for a yacht charter?  Singapore skyline is spectacular at dusk, and that glass of sparkling champagne is best enjoyed as you sunset-cruise in Lazarus Bay on board a catamaran (two-hulled yachts).  Kids are sure to enjoy the sunset cruise, too.  They can camp out in the deck under the stars.

By virtue of its location, Singapore sits in a busy hub that is friendly to both trade and tourists.  Brave the 7-hour trip to cross the Indonesian border past the Nongsa Point, and drop anchor at Mapur Island.  There’s very little undeveloped real estate in Singapore, and this idyllic Indonesian white-sand beach untouched by progress is a welcome respite from the gray eyesore typical of highly-urbanized financial centers.

For a more leisurely trip, Pulau Aur in Malaysia is doable in 14 hours, so a three-day itinerary in the open ocean is in order.  Batu Berhala, a monolith dominating the skyline upon arrival at Palau Aur, beckons sailors with climbing adventures.  This natural stone structure is easy to scale, and kids can surely tag along.

Extended Getaways

Extended getaways are ideal via catamarans (twin-hulled vessels) that are better able to withstand unpredictable shifts in wind movement typical of South China Sea.  From April to October, Leeward Isles is easily navigable on 5 to 7 day-trip.  This uninhabited, white-sand rocky outcrop in the vastness of South China Sea is surrounded by pristine lagoons and turquoise waters.  Get your snorkel gear ready; the island is surrounded by a diverse population of coral reefs.

Long trips are best planned ahead, especially when arranging a yacht charter.  Singapore is replete with long-range catamarans built for this purpose.  From December to March, when the northeast monsoon makes South China Sea too perilous to navigate, alternative destinations can be enjoyed far off the Singaporean coast.

If you plan to exchange vows and go on honeymoon right after, Langkawi, on Malaysia’s west coast, and Phuket, an island off the southwest coast of Thailand, beckon with tropical allure, with stretches of white beach and canopies of palm trees.  An entire week may not be enough, so be sure to make extra time for this tropical treat.
